Mount Desert Symposium in the Arts, LandEscapes 2005 theme is entitled "Gone Fishing." This will is dedicated to CHILDREN everywhere. The week will begin with an installation of "Gone Fishing" scarecrow sculptures created by children of all ages, children partnered with adults, or adults wishing to be a kid. This exhibit will take place at the Beech Hill Farm of the College of the Atlantic from July 31 to August 14. Beech Hill Farm is a seventy-five acre organic farm, owned and operated by the College of the Atlantic. We are encouraging anyone to involved.
LandEscapes 2005 "Gone Fishing" will be hosting other events and workshops including a film evening at the College of the Atlantic, a panel discussion, authorís reading their books, a fly tying workshop and a fishing event. Peter Cook, of the Island Astronomy, will take us on a nighttime fishing adventure through the skies.
LandEscapes is a nonprofit organization that has launched experimental, multidiscipline arts exhibitions, panels, films and other presentations on Mount Desert for over five years. We have worked closely with College of the Atlantic which has provided us with gallery and workshop space, technical facilities and the grounds where artists and year-round and summer community members have come together to create new work, share ideas and dialogue.
